Card Swap New in version 1.3.18
Steam card drops are random, so an account often gets two copies of one card and none of another, and the game's badge never gets finished. Card Swap trades an account's spare cards (second copies) 1 for 1, same game, for cards it's missing. A swap never costs an account set progress: it only gives a card it has more than one of, and only for a card it has fewer of.
Every account is off until you switch it on.
Switch it on
- Open Card Swap in the menu.
- Switch an account to Swapping. Its first check starts within a few minutes, then every 6 hours.
- Swap now checks again right away (at most once every 10 minutes).
The page shows each account's spare cards and every swap it made, with where each one stands.
Confirming swaps
Steam doesn't let a trade go through until the account owner confirms it. When a swap is ready you get a Discord message:
- Open the Steam app on your phone, signed in to that account.
- Tap the Steam Guard shield, then Confirmations.
- Check the cards and confirm.
A swap not confirmed within 24 hours is cancelled, and no new swaps start for that account while one is waiting for you. An account whose Steam Guard is set up inside the bot confirms its swaps by itself.
Who it swaps with
- Other NoggenFogger accounts that have Card Swap switched on. Their cards are read from Steam, so a NoggenFogger account only shows up as a partner when its Steam inventory is public.
- Public trading bots: bots listed openly by their owners for fair 1 for 1 card swaps. There are far more of them, so most swaps come from them. To swap only with NoggenFogger accounts, change Swap with under Settings.
A partner that declines or ignores a swap isn't asked again for a week. A swap the partner hasn't answered in 24 hours is cancelled.
Good to know
- Steam only lets an account trade with Steam Guard on. If it's off, the account's card on the page and a Discord message say so. Turn it on in the Steam app on your phone (Steam Guard shield, add the authenticator). For the first 7 days after that, Steam holds trades for up to 15 days. Card Swap tries again every 6 hours and starts by itself once Steam allows it.
- Only trading cards are swapped, never foil cards, backgrounds, emoticons or anything else in the inventory.
- Cards Steam marks as not tradable yet are never offered.
- Up to 5 swaps go out per account per check.
- Paused under Settings stops every account at once. Switching an account off stops new swaps. Swaps already sent stay open until they're answered or cancelled.
- Which Discord messages you get about swaps: the Notifications page.
